Hi Gary,
were are you in Queensland? I stayed in brisbane few years ago.
Regards
LoïcLudo, très belle dormobile, désolé de pourrir ton post …
June 19, 2013 at 12:07 am #4329Hi Ludo and Loic
I live in Brisbane at Annerley which is on the southside about 5ks from the city centre.
The Dormobile is a 1967 Series 2a 5 door and you are right Ludo – it doesn’t have the stove or wardrobe units – they are missing.
But it does have the foldout bunks in the roof and the Dormatic folding seats for a double bed (or 2 singles ).I will take more pictures
soon including the Martin Walters serial number plate that is still on the dashboard. The car is in a storage warehouse but I hope to have it
home soon so taking pictures will be easier!

June 19, 2013 at 3:50 am #4330Sorry Ludo – forgot to say it has a Holden 202 cu inch straight six cylinder engine(GM 3.3l approx) and a Nissan 5 speed gearbox.I have a
Landrover 2.6 6cylinder engine and gearbox to go back into it to bring it back to factory specs.

June 19, 2013 at 7:02 am #4331hi again gary!
so sure : our land rover ‘re twins!!.. the body is extraordinary !!! my wings are in poor conditions : past owner has used her for hunting, so some crashed on wings… 😕
with your 3.3l and 5 speed gearbox : so good to drive, no? 8)
ps : my daughter spent 4 months in australia, near Adelaide 😉
@ loic : pas de probleme, … ca me va!!
June 19, 2013 at 10:54 am #4332Hi Ludo – the engine isn’t working yet but most people here like the Holden motor and Nissan gearbox – they say however it doesn’t have good low end torque
and the Land Rover 2.6 is better – but burns out exhaust valves too often!
I myself like the Land Rover motor better and prefer it. The one I have to put in the Dormobile is from an ex Australian Army vehicle and runs like a Swiss watch – so quiet and smooth.
South Australia is a very nice place to live – especially near the wineries. I hope your daughter tried some excellent Australian wine while she was there – though of
course French wine is very hard to equal.

June 19, 2013 at 2:25 pm #4333Hi Gary,
I was in Dayborow. For sure Australian wine are verry good espcialy with the sun (it’s raining again here in Belgium …) but they (australian wines) are cheaper in Europe than in Australia (due to the tax).June 20, 2013 at 12:50 pm #4334Hi Loic – Dayboro is where JerryD lives with his Series 3 Dormobile – did you meet him when you were here? Yes the sunshine makes everything
taste better – wine, food and many other things. I find Australian wine great value here but if it’s cheaper there I might emigrate to Belgium! When I retire I hope to drive around Scotland and Ireland in a Land Rover – I’ll bring some wine and meet you on Skye for a drink!

this week end, we ‘re going to “Guedelon”.
In the heart of Puisaye, in Yonne, Burgundy, a team of fifty people have taken on an extraordinary feat: to build a castle using the same techniques and materials used in the Middle Ages. http://www.guedelon.fr/en/the-guedelon-adventure_01.htmlFor the night, i have tested this new option 8) :

August 1, 2013 at 12:00 am #4336Hi Ludo – Guedelon looks amazing – I really admire people who work with stone. Will the area have a lake around the waterwheel when it’s finished?
Your Dormobile looks very cosy with that awning on the side – I can see you having great food and fun there. Chanel doesn’t look completely happy – did he/she eventually
enjoy the trip?
