Hello!
first, sorry for my poor english..i’m a real froggy, i speak & write english as a spanish cow..
My name is Ludo, i live in Loiret, 100 kms in south of Paris..
I had differents landys, the first wa a 109 series IIA ’68..i win on ebay uk 8 years ago, but it was very corroded…it had finished his life in Oleron. After this sad experience, i buy a 109 military ex-NATO (OTAN in french), it was very good, and very great but hard to drive..
2 years ago, i decided to take another one..and this is my wife who paid my landy for my birthday 8)
found near my home (45)…a 88 IIA1961 petrol(one of the first) to restore :
at the arrival :
and now :
but why on your website?
Cause, firstable : i know some people here ๐ …and i found 7 month before a strange series near my home…Serie IIA SW Dormobile – 1964 – Diesel – in original state…. 20 years stocked!!
July 26, 2011 at 6:59 pm #4284Hi Ludo
Welcome to the forum. Your English is fine – with no trace of a Spanish accent! Your Dormobile is VERY interesting! I should like to know more about the interior, and the cutouts on the safari roof. Also, what code number is there on the Martin Walter plate on the dashboard? Are you thinking about coming to ‘Le Bal de Series’ at Bannegon?
Questions,questions!
Kind regards,
antJuly 27, 2011 at 6:30 am #4285hi ant
thanx for the welcome! the number on the plate finished by “.4”, so in 64? i’m right?
i believe that this land was produced and just after was modified by Martin Walter, and was delivered in France in the same year…
there is two colour in the interior : white and grey :
and the dashboard :
during the loading with my friend jano! ๐
and now at home!!! 8)
for bannegon, i’m not sure to be ok with her…

August 4, 2011 at 7:52 am #4286Wow, that’s beautiful! And fascinating! A Dormobile without the lifting roof. I wonder how many were made? I wonder how many more barn finds like this there are?
After camping a lot in ours, I think I’d prefer to have the stove/hob on the rear door, like a Carawagon. Certainly I could do that with ours, but since it was originally equipped with a sink/stove cabinet I feel I should leave it that way. This model however, without the furniture, seems ideal for a few modifications like that (stove on the door, etc.) which Martin Walter didn’t offer.
Hm, I bet the roof cutouts are for a roof rack?

Yes Jeremy, that is the obvious answer!! – but most contemporary full roof racks were constructed with the standard ‘Safari Roof ‘ in view,so in theory there should be no conflict. However, in mid 60s France, there wasn’t much choice of acceessories for British vehicles, so some degree of adaptation seems logical. I am interested in the finer detail. I know of one other Martin Walter conversion without an elevating roof. These were obviously iintended for customers who had to carry 4 or more passengers, and needed a full roof rack to carry extra equipment. The no. 4 does usually indicate the year 1964 – but it should be in the middle – not at the end. I should be interested to know the full MW code.
Ludo, si ca pourra รชtre utile, je comprends le franรงais (plus ou moins- et avec un accent perfide!) Pourtant, ton anglais semble bien a la hauteur!!
Amicalement,

Great looking truck. The jerry can holders on the front are carawagon, which just adds to the mystery of how she came about? been looking at the photos, but cannot see any fixings for furniture or even the large rubbers that support the seats, when down as a bed?
It’s no good, we will just have to drive down and come and have a look.

August 8, 2011 at 2:30 pm #4289๐ un salut “officiel” sur ce post ludo , et puis moi j’aime ton anglais car je le traduis instantanement ๐ ๐
car sinon j’ai parfois besoin d’anthony ๐ ๐August 9, 2011 at 6:40 am #4290hello!!
you’re right, there was a roof rack on the top, but strange – handmade, cause it seems to a plate on the roof (several hole in the safari roof) fixing with rubber feet to the real roof?
no trace of any fixing inside…under the rubber only 2 traps to visit tank, and the 4 holes for the seat..no fixing for kitchen or another…
here, is the detail code : 11458
ps : bonjour michel!!! ๐
