hi my name is dave i have just purchased 1963 bedford dormorbile it needs a full restoration i have owned the van for 3 weeks i have got to work on the bodywork striped the front of the van the engine is seized i put diesel in the bores for a week and tried to turn the engine with bar on the bottom pulley this did not work. so i have taken the head of it taped the pistons with a wooden block and hammer they freed off the head as 4 exhaust valves burned out and coldplugs need replacing i am going to take the engine out to check the ring and clutch. can anyone tell were i can get the parts from ?
bodywork paintwork is in poor condition i have striped the paint of the front of the van repaired the body and primed it and put a coat of colour to protect it as i will do a panel at a time than repaint it when finished repairing it the q.t.r panels have holes in them as they will need welding and plates making.
i will need passenger and drivers door window rubbers and mouldings for the sides, and would anyone no were i could get bumpers re chromed.
we wont get to the interior just yet as i will need more information on it,
i have taken photos if you would like to view them i will send you some.

May 19, 2009 at 8:25 pm #1790Thanks for sharing those with us Dave. Your restoration looks similar to mine. I certainly know how much work youv’e put into it, and you deserve a medal. Your van is looking great, I wish mine was a little nearer the end of the restoration. 😕
Looking forward to seeing some picturesque photos to really show your van at it’s best. 😀
Cheers, Gaz
