Hi all
Lou, William and I are planning a spring trip to Morocco in Barney, passing through France far too quickly for Louise. So, I have been told we will have to have a French fix in late summer/Autumn. I do not have any dates yet, but thought I would mention it as last Octobers Normandy meeting was enjoyed by all who attended and it would be great to organise another meeting.
The only grumble was the cold and this got me thinking that we should try and have the meeting a little earlier in the year?
The Bal des Series is an obvious event we may aim to get to, but does anyone else have any ideas or thoughts?
Cheers Mick
February 5, 2011 at 10:17 am #3792😀 bonjour à vous
February 5, 2011 at 1:45 pm #3793hello to you
yes, this years Les Bal des Series show will again take place in Bannegon (normally) and it would be nice if we all end up there: wink:
I have other news, I will convey it;(jeremy or mark, you translate it correctly, thank you: D)
Goggle translation, a bit of correction and we are there.
Bannegon would be a great place to meet up as Lou and I were booked into the first one in 2005 (ticket 25), but never made it as Lou had a miscarriage the week before. Pregnancy, a baby, friends weddings, and getting time off work stopped us getting to the others. Last year it was a bit far south, but if it is in Bannegon, at least that is just drivable in a day. Might have a lazy drive down. Go via Rouen, do our shopping and then stop half way on the great municipal campsite at St Remy sur Avre. All depends if anyone else wants to join us?
Cheers Mick
February 5, 2011 at 5:12 pm #3794The Dormobile seems to be working well, now. I’m tarting it up for its 2-year inspection.
Bannegon is “only” 7 hours’ drive from Interlaken …
I’d like to come but the family is only so-so with regard to Dormobile trips. It also depends on the school schedule. I’ll check. Maybe it’ll be just me and the toddler.

February 5, 2011 at 6:33 pm #3795I’d like to be there – but coil springs are not allowed!! Perhaps, having been connected with Dormobiles for nearly 50 years, our French colleagues can get me a special dispensation …? !!!

Come on man, get that wife of yours whipped in. Louise and William will be there and no doubt loads of other kids.
Tony
Problem this one. Leprosy is very difficult to cure. Being from Switzerland, a bell around your neck to tell everyone you are unclean shouldn’t be too much of a burden, would it? All we can do is as the French Club if they can section off an area and flag it up as the leper colony?
When they release the date, i will see if we can make it. William starts proper school in September, so there in no way Louise would allow him to miss a school day and the fact it is now ilegal without the permission of the school.
Glad to see folk are still about, been a bit quiet on here?
Cheers Mick

If they do not like coil springs, do they go apoplectic at 200tdi’s?….I would like to give at least one of mine a longer run than through the Highlands, possibly a second one if a pilot can be found for it.
Firm dates as soon as possible would be good.Graeme.
February 6, 2011 at 8:23 am #3798😀 bonjour à vous
jeremy, cela serait super que tu puisses venirFebruary 6, 2011 at 8:49 am #3799Merci Michel

The dates are 17-18 Sept. No problem with Tdi engines, but “coilers” (Defenders) are never (almost!) allowed on the camp-site. However if there is a special Dormobile section, I can (I think) ask for an EXCEPTIONAL dispensation!
Jeremy, it would be great if you could make it.Mick, thanks, but the “leper section” will be full with the Yorkshire contingent!!
February 6, 2011 at 9:19 am #3800Pretty sure we can’t make that date – even if we could, there is little attraction for Esther about a weekend FULL of landrovers.

It would be great to see your Bedford – I took my driving test in a CA Workabus! However the event is organised by a club for leafsprung Land Rovers, and even my Dormobile (on a Land Rover Defender) is theoretically not allowed as it has coil springs! You could come along for the ride though, and if they won’t let us in, we could prop up the nearest bar together! You might be seriously bored being surrounded by 100s of Land Rovers all weekend – but it’s in a nice area (W of Dijon)
February 6, 2011 at 7:53 pm #3803Hi Alex

Do you think Louise will be talking Land Rovers all weekend? Take my word, where ever we do a gathering, it will be just like the one in Normandy. Banter, booze, bbq and a man on a accordion, hopefully?
Not sure about the French National now as William will start school on the 5th September and it would not be fair to take him out of school just as he is settling in. Looks like we are more likely coming in late August or late October again. It was a little too cold for one or two in 2010 and they have already said they would not be coming if we do it in October.
Just had a chuckle at ebay. Just found the French Army’s Jerry Cans marked for wine only. Got to get one of them mounted on the Dormobile.

Keep off the elderberry wine Mick! That’s another event, usually in May in the Burgundy region. I suppose you’re still rambing about “Le bal des Series” at Bannegon?
February 6, 2011 at 10:00 pm #3805Hi Tony
You boingy drives get it wrong, the French series national, not that landymania event with all the bling.
