Hello,
Does anyone have available two complete DORMOBILE Side Flashers (the narrow type)?π‘ Is there a change to have them replicated β
Thanks in advance.
FanaiJanuary 23, 2008 at 9:54 pm #1539Is that the plastic strip with the word Dormobile in the plastic holder? early Dormobile had a metal script badge which can be sourced from Atlantis Classics 01530 837888. The plastic strips are not available as a replacement unless Dormobile Ltd now supply them.

January 23, 2008 at 10:31 pm #1540π Hello John,
Yes, these are the ones…
If you are the owner of the Marine Blue LR SIIA Dormobile with lic. plate ending with 856J then I know you have them….!There was a long time ago a plan to have them replicated; most probably Allan Horne, #3 will know β
I have only one in reasonable shape… π₯
Thanks for reacting John.
Regards,
Fanai[/u]January 25, 2008 at 5:22 pm #1541Yes, 856J is mine. We never did get the badges made, but have atlantis classics who make the script badge. I don’t think Allan progressed the plastic strip badges either. π

It’s a pity that Allan didn’t persue that; would the American members be able to have such a badge replicated? They seem to me to be able to do just that for their ‘own’, i.e. American vintage cars…. βFebruary 5, 2008 at 8:44 pm #1543hi
we are going to try to make a picture of originals we have on a dormie, then try photoshop and then transfer onto some kind of plastic/plexiglass, will keep you posted πFebruary 6, 2008 at 2:15 pm #1544π Aah… that sounds ok but I myself have pictures of the parts we are talking about but I’m not able to put them on this forum… it seems that that faciliity is UNAVAILABLE…?

Just to say, I need a pair of these for Barney.
Cheers Mick
March 2, 2008 at 10:01 pm #1547Hello! It seems a lot of us don’t have them!
If i’m not mistaken, side flashers have changed from metal to plastic in 1968/69, when Land Rover IIa changed ligths to the wings.
Anyway, mine doesn’t have them also. So maybe after that project is made in computer, we could know prices in several countries to know where’s cheaper. Just an idea!!!!! I need 2, and two more in case of first two are missing!!
Thank you!

September 1, 2008 at 3:04 pm #1550Hi,
Good luck to those seeking the black badges (flashers).I was wondering if anyone knows the real timeline of these badges? My Dormobile has the chrome metal badges and lights in the wings.
The Dormobile is for sure from sometime in 1969, though the Station Wagon it is on is likely not the original one. It is from 02/1969. I can’t say whether the wings are the originals. However the badges are in the lower-down location where the black plastic badge is on Michel’s mid-1969 Dormobile. The chrome badges on older Dormobiles I’ve seen in photos are higher-up on the wing. Do I have a bodge, or maybe a transitional model that used old badges in the new position?
(NOTE: I’m not sure if these are the original badges, but I think it’s likely that the Dormobile originally had lights in the wings).

A pic might help, I am not sure to understand what you say,
MarcSeptember 6, 2008 at 7:23 pm #1552Sure, Marc.
It ‘s just a curiosity:
Mine is pictured first (blue, 1969):
– made of chromed metal (early style) and located lower on the wing (late style). The “new” style is pictured in the middle (grey, from Michel’s , also 1969):
– made of plastic and located lower on the wingThe “old” style up to (?) 1968 is pictured last (white Land Rover, from http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/Dormobile/badges.html):
– made of chromed metal and located high on the wing -
