November 6, 2011 at 6:02 pm #4525book was called Highway of the three kings, by Barbara Toy. The only shot in the book of the landrover was rear view.
Can’t quite see the words on the side of the one in the picture Mick
A good read as well.November 10, 2011 at 10:43 pm #4526Hi Alex
Found another couple of pictures
The middle word is Sahara and the last word Libya, so I guess the first words are Niger River?

Google reveals that she shuffled off this mortal coil aged 92 about 10 years ago.
It must be one of few three door conversions.
I wonder what happened to it. Not heard from Phil for ages and ages so can’t ask him if he has a record of it.November 11, 2011 at 7:19 pm #4528Hi Guys
Guess who’ll be the star at the “Bal de Series” next year?!!! ….

November 15, 2011 at 12:53 am #4530HI Tony
Looks like that photo was taken at Billing, but when?
Is that you in the drivers seat?
More info please?
Hope you are both well?
Cheers Mick
November 15, 2011 at 1:54 pm #4531Hi Mick
Yes, this was taken at Billing in 1998, with (a much younger!) yours truly in the driving seat. The vehicle was discovered by Simon & Tim de Bues and exhibited on the DOC stand. It is not the Barbara Toy vehicle, but appeared to have been commissioned by LR for an unknown explorer/photograper. It had a Birmingham registration from ca 1963, capstan winch, and a hatch in the nearside (L/H) roof. It was sold to a DOC member, ostensibly for restoration, but sadly seems to have disappeared from view.
All fine with us, hope Louise has recovered, and you & W are well,
Regards
TNovember 16, 2011 at 12:22 am #4532Hi Tony
Thanks for the info.
Lou has slipped a disc and will be recovering for at least another 6 months. On a bucket full of drugs and was getting more mobile, but been bed ridden again this weekend. Not looking good for Dormobile trips next year. 🙁
William is new full time at school and loving everyday. I’m busy building roof racks and nearly got my 2a Forward Control ready for the road.
