Here’s an oddball question: What does a Dormobile roof weigh, including the bellows and bellows frame? Somebody asked me if weighed more or less than the Westfalia roof fitted to the VW bay window buses, and I couldn’t tell him. My guess is that it’s heavier, but it’s just a guess.
hi jlt

Thanks, Dave. That tells me that the springs do a lot of the actual lifting … I just never knew how much.
Yes, the springs carry a good amount of the weight. But I think 200lbs is an overestimate.
I took my roof to pieces to fix it and I carried the fiberglass cap with windows and lifting handle in it by myself. So it can’t be more than 80 lbs I think, and probably less. The bows and canopy aren’t more than 20lbs. The lifting arms are heavier than they look, maybe another 20lbs?
Don’t forget the weight of the bunk beds, these must weight 10-15kg each
I actually weighed one of these today. It comes to nineteen pounds (roughly 8.6 kg), with the fabric. (I’d taken them out because I don’t use them, and knew that I was saving a bit of weight … 38 lbs as it turned out.
