Roof/Interior repair and alternative parts

Dormobile Ltd has most of the parts I need but I’m wondering about these:

-Interior Flourescent Lights: I don’t like the new Dormobile ones so much. What alternatives are similar to the originals and where should I look for them? Were the same ones used in all models of Dormobile?

-Brass tent screws: all broke off. Is there a good reason to use brass again? What have you used as replacements?

Jeremy, Dormobile used to go out to the market and buy a bulk order of fittings, like lights etc fit them till they ran out and then did the same again, they were not precious about keeping a standard of trim the same for the life of a vehicles production, so different fittings were used.

If the brass screws are no good then try and source stainless steel, anything which will not rust.

Thanks, John, that answer sounds like an echo of the ones I’ve received to other Dormobile questions!! I’ll stop worrying and go with my own and my wife’s taste on this rebuild, then. It’ll be very close to original without having to count rivets.

The fiberglass roof is off and in the yard. I hope to refinish it over Easter when I have a couple days off (I’m sure the neighbors will love the sound of the sander during their holiday).

The PVC tent is a bit brittle on the front side but the rest is very nice. Rather than buy a new one at this point, I think I’ll either leave it as-is or sew in a window I’ll cut out of an old tent I have.
