Could someone tell me if I’ve put the roof bows back in the correct way please ?? I cannot remember how they were when I removed them .

I’ve been trying to fit a new canopy to my refurbished roof but I’m finding it impossible, I’ve been jiggling it around trying to get it to fit but it seems to be 3″ short at one end 😯 Seems a complete waste of money 👿

        Michel,
I wasn’t able to read your post. It required me to log in.

Jerryd your bows look OK? Try viewing my old blog from 2008. Maybe there’s a hint in my photos?

The bows fit very tightly. I found it necessary to install them on the most slack setting in the slots, and then push them toward the canopy once the roof was lifted. The old canopy was drum-tight and the roof was therefore extremely hard to lift. The new canopy I got was not difficult to fit (I had had practice re-fitting the shrunken original!) but the stripes weren’t horizontal. It was very slack and looked sloppy. After I pulled it tighter so that it looked — not tight — but like a comfortable fit, like in the photos in the 1960’s brochures, it tore open at the rear corner seam on the hinged side when I closed the lid. I repaired it with glue, but it happened again. In the end I rivetted it. The company offered a replacement for an insultingly small reduction in price, but did not otherwise stand by their product. Probably it was under stress when closed. Either this is a result of my trying to install it with the stripes horizontal, which it didn’t want to do, or it is poorly tailored. I know one other canopy this happened to (its owner also couldn’t get its stripes horizontal).

By the way, I did not use the pre-marked spots for mounting the bows on the new canopy, but measured the locations over from my original, and used the original press studs and loops rather than the velcro that’s on the new canopy.
