Hi all
I know Dormobile are doing roof canopies, but they are;
1. quite expensive
2. Limited availability
3. Made buy a sub contractor
4. Limited patterns.So, as I am a long way from the south coast, I have been looking for a supplier ‘up North’ and have just had a lovely conversation with the lady at ‘Proud to Pop’ . They can do any design you like on the canopy and for about £100 less than Dormobile. £100 is a good discount, hence posting this in this section of the forum. They have done several non VW Dormobiles this summer, a couple of Land Rovers and one Bedford as well as several VW Dormobiles. They also do bunks and sun canopies to match. Have a look at the great designs even if you do not need a new canopy.

Anyone on here used them?

November 7, 2009 at 11:20 am #2616Hi Mick,
I got my canopy from Dormobile before the ownership crisis last year but I did inquire at the supplier you mentioned regarding textiles approximating the original plaid / tartan bunk patterns. They answered quickly and said they don’t know where to get it new. They do seem to know their VW stuff, though. I like their textile patterns but I wanted this Dormobile to look original.

February 4, 2010 at 7:49 pm #2617Hi Jeremy, the original tartan pattern bunk bed material is no long available. The original material is flammable and deteriorates with age. Dormobile Ltd offer bunk bed replacement material at the correct size in a solid colour (not tartan) which is fireproof, rot and mould resistant. I have a set of these in red and have no complaints.

February 4, 2010 at 9:03 pm #2618Hi
We are very fortunate around here to have a lot of fent shops. I have been in a few times and there are lots of good strong fabrics available, even some tartan patterns. My plan is to make the bunks for Barney. One will be standard, the other will also have a side panel. This will be William’s bunk. I will be using a fabric that compliments the original pattern. If there any good, I might start selling them.
