I finally decided to try and straighten out the bend bumper support bracket that I caused with a reversing ding on April Fools Day (qualifying as village idiot).

The problem is, the chrome domed bolts are fitted to a round hole and however much WD40 ive soaked the nuts in (over several weeks), I cant get the nuts off (no resistance form bolts obviously). Access to them is v tricky for grinding off- has anyone come across a similar problem or know of a cunning plan which might help me rectify the problem?

    Many thanks

Any mean of freeing the iron from the chassis instead of the bumper? 🙄

Phil- no such luck (if it could ever be easy. Ive got to remove the bumper from the brackets before I can remove the brackets for straightening (they go through slots in the fibreglass coach body)
Im going to replace the chrome domed bolts, so might try (carefully) grinding a slot into the heads so I can use an impact screwdriver against a spanner supported by wooden wedges.
When I replace the bolts, Ill use nylock nuts (stainless steel) to secure them.

That is, unless theres some better ideas out there!

Hi, I would drill it out , less chance of damage to bumper.

As the saying goes, theres more than one way to skin a cat. I think Ill start with the least intrusive and work up in violence levels as necessity dictates. Though I must admit, my first reaction was to use a big hammer.. 😈
