appears to be in the hands of a restoration company looking for someone with deep pockets.
November 13, 2010 at 5:18 am #3637An update, have been in touch with seller, as it stands they are asking £2500.
Being complete, probably worth it, but with the transport costs on top, not an option for me. 🙁
November 13, 2010 at 12:30 pm #3638Looks to be a pretty genuine 1963, chassis number shows as In build 29 Apr 1963 out of dispatch to Martin Walter 03 May 1963, original colour Marine Blue.
Pity about the Series 3 wings and grill but easily rectified, later reg suggests it may have spent its early life out of the UK and been re imported in the early 1970s.
Despite the ebay sellers assertion regarding the cooling the radiator looks a pretty standard early/mid 60s Series 2 flat top to me, same as mine anyway!Kind regards
PhilNovember 13, 2010 at 6:26 pm #3639Talked to the seller about Land Rover all seem good apart from some mix up with the chassis number his log book has a different number to that shown on the Land Rover 😯 . What do you have to do to import it back into the UK?
£2500 plus import tax and ferry trip costs. 🙁November 14, 2010 at 6:14 am #3640Found this on an expat site, looks simple enough but worth checking that it is still current.
Is VAT payable?
2 No VAT is payable by the owner if:
the vehicle has been owned for at least 6 months
the owner has lived in Jersey for at least 1 year
the vehicle is not sold for at least 1 year after export to UK
If the vehicle is sold, VAT at 17.5% is payable on the proceeds of the sale (the new registration document having been stamped to indicate this).
3 If VAT is due, it is payable at 17.5% of car’s value gauged from vehicle’s sales invoice, or UK ‘book’ price. The vehicle must be declared in the Red Channel at the port of entry, if there is a Customs’ presence, and payment made by cash or cheque. Credit Cards are not accepted. If an ordinary bank cheque is used, no clearance document will be issued for ten days but the car may be driven away.
4 If there is no Customs’ official present on the docks the owner should drive home and contact the nearest Customs and & Excise Advice Centre as soon as possible.[/i]
November 14, 2010 at 12:38 pm #3641But there is still the wrong chassis number, which is more of a worry to me. 🙁 🙁
November 14, 2010 at 1:21 pm #3642It may well be (is?) a wrong log book for the vehicle – the log book is for a 70’s 109 LH drive apparently! – You would be better off re applying for the original based on the chassis number, especially in respect to the info Phil has kindly researched. When he first advertised it, it was for a SIII, until it was pointed out that the bulkhead was a SII and he looked into it a bit more and changed the description – Could be a good reason to knock his price down though 😈

Excellent news – A short holiday in Jersey then ?
November 16, 2010 at 5:38 pm #3646Did think about going to collect, but actually works out cheaper for seafreight to Poole and relayed up.
Plus too much hassle removing the light bar/winch frame from the Defender, been told that Jersey Authorities don’t like anything that sticks out the front of vehicles. 😯
November 16, 2010 at 6:26 pm #3647Hi Gramor
Well done!
Glad to hear this lovely Landy will be heading back to the mainland. Is that three you have ? What are you going to do with them all? One eats enough of my cash, never mind three !!!!
So, when can I expect the order for three Roof Racks?
Cheers Mick
