I now realise that my charging problem can’t be the regulator because an alternator has been fitted in place of the original generator. There are only two leads running from the alternator. The one from the spade connector goes straight to the starter solenoid and isn’t connected to anything else. ( Doesn’t this lead also need to go to the ignition switch? Could that be connected to the solenoid on the CA?). Who knows where the other one goes to but shouldn’t it just go to the charging light bulb?

My thinking now is that 1. The old control/ regulator box has nothing to do with it. 2. The lack of charging must be either a bad connection or break in the wiring OR the alternator is busted. 3. It can’t be wired up wrong since it’s been working for the last two years where the vans been in daily use.

If anyone has any opinion on this I’d be most grateful.
