This may not look much (hope picture works)
But it is original Dormobile side window section window seal. Which includes the inner section that holds the trim panel
Completely unavailable up until now, a CA Bedford restorer had the dies made and now can supply this profile.
For the CA he also has (shaped) rear window seal and front door seal for aluminium frames.
I can pass on his details.May 2, 2013 at 9:10 am #5056Although the picture is OK, I can’t see very well how it works.
Anyway I would be interested in knowing a bit more about that (price, sizes, fit) and the other rubbers he had remade.May 2, 2013 at 10:02 pm #5057On the right is the regular bodywork to glass slots, on the left is the extra profile to hold the interior trim boards.
I’ve fitted one side of my van.
Bearing in mind that I have bought two previous types of window rubber this is perfect. It doesn’t bunch around the corners or aloow the glass to bulge.
It should be good it is identical to the original.
The guy spend 3 years finding someone to make a die using some old hardened rubber seal as a guide.
It costs £80 for two sides.
He also has front door rubber for the ali screens and shaped rear door window seal. Again based on the original this doesn’t pop out on the corners like the stuff I paid £70 for. Rear door glass os £40 all plus £12 P&PMay 26, 2013 at 8:11 pm #5058Just exactly what I need!!!Could you please advise contact details so I can source enough for both sides…Thanks very much
May 26, 2013 at 10:22 pm #5059Hi, this is a supurb item which is identical to the original. A perfect fit.
This is the contact from the Facebook CA owners group.#
PROPER CA WINDOW RUBBERS AT LAST!Good news for all of you struggling to stop the windows falling out of your Bedford CA!!
A friend of mine, Mick Walker, has commissioned a batch of reproduction rubbers for the windows, going to the expense of having the tooling made and having the moulded corners pre formed on the rear door rubbers. All you have to do is trim the ends to suit and bond them together with sealant.… For the Dormobile campers and buses he is offering the correct profile side window rubber section which also traps the interior millboard, complete with the black locking insert strip and suitably long for all shapes of window at £80 the pair plus £12.92 postage.
For front doors with aluminium sliding windows, he has the correct profile sealing rubber, which has not been previously available in sufficient lengths to cover LWB and SWB for £50 the pair plus £8.25 postage.
For the standard rear door windows he has the correct profile rubber, complete with formed ‘corners’ so that it sits flat in the frames and is an easy fit. All you do is trim and join the ends. These are £40 the pair plus £8.25 postage.
Mick has spent a long time fastidiously researching and restoring his van and as a former Martin Walter employee got frustrated that he could only get ‘near enough’ or not at all rubber parts, and what few NOS items available were both expensive and 50 years old.
He is not a business and doesn’t possess a computer, but has given me permission to publish his personal phone number in the interest of getting more vans back on the road.
He can be contacted on 01303 252 870
May 30, 2013 at 9:05 pm #5060Is there any mean to get a sample, say 2″ long, to judge the quality of the product ?
August 2, 2013 at 10:42 pm #5061The quality is perfect. AS good as original. But as the lengths are generous I have some left ift you want to PM me with your address I can send you a sample.
July 5, 2019 at 11:32 am #9680Hi There,
Thank you for this information. I have a Bedford CF Van Freeway dormobile 1972. Unfortunately the rubber of the side windows are broken. I exactly need the same rubber of the windows. Average 35ft (for 1 vehicle).
Do you know if your contact person still have this rubber.
Thanks a lot for your help.Your Sincerely,
JF
