Hi everyone, I’m new on here, and new to owning a Bedford Ca Dormobile Camper. I’ve always admired them from afar, but never thought I’d actually own a one. Anyway, my name is Gary and I’m 44 and live just outside Newcastle in a small town called South Shields.

I’m interested in Classic cars, obviously 😆 ………60’s music and collecting Diecast vehicles.

I have just bought a 1970 Bedford CA Dormobile Camper which has been off the road for over 20 years. It requires a full restoration which I will do myself with the help of a good friend. The van has had one previous owner and is totally original with no welding whatsoever.

My son made a quick video so I could show my brother-in-law who lives in Poole. Just click the link below, and see for yourself.

I will do my best to add to the forum and hopefully get some answers to problems that may lie ahead. 😀

As I said, I am completely new to the Bedford CA restoration so any advice offered is gratefully received.

      Gary……. 😀

        Hello and welcome Gary!
Very nice camper indeed. (interesting to see that it got red piping on the aluminium stripping)
It doesn’t seem to require a restoration. Some tlc will surely do the trick. I have driven 3200km to Wales and back with mine this summer without any problem apart from a broken gear stick . They are good vehicules, not fast, not always dry inside 🙄 but a real pleasure to use and a real way to make new friends.

PS : Could you please post a picture of the rear number plate light or maybe give the reference of it as mine got lost and I have no idea of how it was? Thanks 😉

Thanks for the welcome Phil, sorry it’s taken so long to reply, but for some reason, I’ve missed this post? 😕
You say my van doesn’t need a resto, oooh but it does……lol. I’m lucky, I’m aq paintsprayer by trade, so I can do most of the work myself.
Looking forward to getting it on the road, and getting out to some classic car shows.

          Check out my progress. http://picasaweb.google.com/home

I’ve been very busy Dave, hopefully it won’t be long before I can use it. I won’t get it painted this summer, but I’ll be able to use it in primer. Click the link in my signature to see progress pics. Looking forward to seeing more photo’s of your van. 😀
