Series land rover wanted. I’m new to dormobiles and no land rover expert, so if I had a wish list I would have to say:
Series 2a, 1963 (ish), galvanized chassis and bulkhead, a 200 tdi engine. Oh and could you make it in light olive green please! (well there’s always hope! it was a wish list after all)
In reality, a nice well sorted one. I would possibly be interested in a project, however I am no landrover expert, so it may be to daunting (and the risk is it would stay a project for a very long time!). I guess I’m saying that I would be interested to see what possibly comes along.Anyone interested in selling now or in the near’ish future please bear me in mind, or if you have any info that might lead to one, I would be most grateful.
Cheers, christian.
August 30, 2011 at 6:47 pm #4405There’s an amazing half-built restoration for sale in New Orleans, U.S.A., now. I don’t see how he could give it up. An original 1967 American import with NADA (north american dollar region) 2.6L engine, lights, left-hand drive, etc. That engine is tuned for high horsepower. He’s asking something like $15,000. Land Rover prices in America and Germany are very high, tsk tsk. But this is really an unfair project, a Meccano set without any rusty bits we typically have to clean and refurbish. Since it’s already at a port city, the shipping costs would be minimized. You’d have to find out if NADA engines are allowed in the UK or else swap it with me for mine 8) I have his brochure (PDF) — yes, he made a sales brochure — and contact information if you need it.
