My 109 Dormobile is very nearly roadworthy. Another few weeks should see it with an MOT and almost ready for action.

So, my 110 Dormobile – a 1985 (89000mile)ex police station wagon with defender 200 tdi engine and box plus disco transfer box, with factory fitted dormobile roof and bunks (april last year), will be surplus to requirements.

I am posting this with the intention of getting some feedback on my options (please)

Do I sell as is (with 12 months mot) or sell the roof and vehicle separately?

      Any thoughts?

      Many thanks
      Alex

        Alex,
It’s good to hear the 109 survived, I wasn’t sure of your plans with it.

In your position I’d target the U.S. market, which can soon import these. There is hot anticipation on the Dormobile discussion list for when the 110 can be imported:

        dor@drivearoundtheworld.com

You might want to register there and describe your vehicle.

          Thanks Jeremy

I couldn’t get much from that link though – my computer wanted to email it, and checking out driveroundthe world.com was a charity, not a dormobile discussion group.
Would it matter that it has been converted from petrol to tdi?

Sorry, Alex, it was a list server I was trying to point you to. Try this site for how to use it:

            http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/Dormobile/JHess/emailList.html

I post and reply to this address and it goes to a list of Dormobile owners, mostly in the U.S.

            DOR@mail.drivearoundtheworld.com

There were recently a lot of messages exchanged about how great it would be to have a 110 Dormobile and how now that the first 110’s are 25 years old they can be imported without hassle. I do think there’s some interest. As far as the newer engine, the folks in the U.S. interested in such vehicles will know better about the import rules and what vehicles qualify as 25 years old.

Having passed another MOT today, my 110 Dormobile will be off to pastures new (in Surrey) in a few days time.
Thanks Steve – I hope you enjoy her as much as I have.
