    Hi all.

Can anyone tell me how much paint (cellulose) I will need to respray ‘Gertie’? She’s a ’60 Dormobile. 🙂
Have all but bare-metalled her now and have just bought some acid etch, etching and filler primers for her. But…. the chap in the paint factors was being vague about how much topcoat I’d need. He thought 5-6 litres, which seemed alot to me, Considering a Vee Dub forum thought a bay window VW would take 4 litres. Obviously the Dormobile only has 1/3 of the roof to spray as well. Not being tight, but don’t want a garage full of unused paint, as the paint will have to be specially mixed as the colour chips didn’t match the original paint. I was told about £30 liter. That sound about right to you? I am sure I could use a ‘stock’ paint, but want the right green/ grey paint ( anyone know what that’s called? 😕 )

    Cheers, Andy

If your painting the whole van including the roof and inside, 5 or 6 ltrs is probably right, as cellulose doesn’t cover as well as the newer 2 pack system.

I have used 2ltrs of 2 pack straight colour on the roof and inside already and will probably use 2 lrts of basecoat and 2ltrs of 2 pack laquer on the rest of the van when I get round to spraying the body next month.

Estimating paint coverage isn’t easy on something youve’ never painted before. 🙁
