JerryD
Thank you for the pointers.
The mint Norway example did sell. I have been in contact with the PO & he reports that he misses the vehicle terribly. I empathise. I have asked for my details to be passed onto the current owner & he kindly agreed to do so. That said, he too is looking for a replacement.I have joined the LRCC forum. Robin the webmaster being instrumentation in getting me passed the human/spam bot challenge. I failed the verification question through a terse reply to the challenge that was not previously expected ;-). I can now post that is a great asset.
I am settling in for a potentially long haul. I am in good company & the ladies & gentlemen I have contacted have been very helpful, open & honest that I know I am in the right place & on the right track. The vehicle is out there…
That said Prerenties are being de-mobilised from what I read.
Kindest regards
MarkAugust 12, 2014 at 8:23 am #5237Hi
May be tempted to part with one but not in a rush. Bought another Morris 1000 recently so ought to part with a vehicle.
Series 2A 2.25 diesel 1966 in Grey. Taxed and Road legal registered in UK. Used frequently more as a runabout than for camping.
Rebuilt I guess some 6 years ago, Dormobile seats and fittings.

August 18, 2014 at 10:07 am #5240Thank you Steve, Jerry & Loic & Jon. The search is now over. I have purchased Jon’s 2a Dormobile “Donkey”.

MarkAugust 21, 2014 at 1:29 am #5241Congratulations Mark – these are fabulous vehicles and I hope you enjoy it.
I’ve just moved house and really want to start the resto on mine – soon!
Jerry D – is that one in Tasmania still for sale? I saw it had what looked like a
complete interior and I was very tempted but the rest looked a bit of a challenge.
I think it was on Gumtree but I haven’t seen it listed for a while.
Regards
GaryAugust 21, 2014 at 12:58 pm #5242Hi Gary,
I believe it is still available, he wanted about $4k for it but shipping is a bit expensive to get it to the mainland 😯 . Must apologise for not being in touch and meeting up 😳 but had a few health issues recently. I still have a new kitchen unit sitting in my land rover room 😉Unfortunately Mark has had to put his dormobile up for sale
August 21, 2014 at 1:45 pm #5243Thanks Gary – great vehicle. I love it. Wife does not. Hence the resale. That said, I am taken with the concept. Great fun. Wish the wife was at the moment though.
August 21, 2014 at 11:57 pm #5244Sorry to hear that Mark – my wife has given me a strict 8 car limit and somehow I have 24! I have found parking them
down the street and not admitting they’re yours works a charm.I also rent storage from another guy for $60 per month per car
and my wife never complains about them – out of sight … etc. Good luck with the sale and the wife!
Jerry D – sorry to hear about your health – hope you’re getting well again. I’ve watched your work on your wardrobe replica with much
admiration – very workmanlike and useful.
You must come for a drive to the beach for coffee one weekend in your Dormobile – I keep hearing strange accents down here that must
originate from the Old Country so you’ll feel quite nostalgic.( I think the suburb names like Margate, Brighton, Sandgate and Scarborough
draws them here). And I want to look at that kitchen unit some time too!
Kind regards
Gary
August 22, 2014 at 5:41 am #5245I’ve got three secret cars here in my shed too 😆 It must be an aussie thing not to tell the wife about them.
We’ll have to catch up soon Gary, maybe pm me your mobile number again just in case I can’t find it. I took the dormobile down to Scarborough a few weeks ago to the Austin Healey club day, a great backdrop for an event. I got the all clear health wise 😀 just have to have regular checks now to make sure it doesn’t come back 😯
The dormobile’s in to have it’s dent knocked out this weekend, previous owner reversed and bashed the corner which made a nasty mess of the aluminium.
August 26, 2014 at 9:08 am #5246Thanks Gary & Jerry. Wife & child are off to Disney this week (ouch). She demanded to go based on the unannounced Dormobile arrival. I would like to think she’s calming down. But I think her mind is still made up.
Jerry: Well done on feeling better. I am very pleased & happy for you.
Kindest regards
MarkAugust 26, 2014 at 12:36 pm #5247That gives you a week to play in the dormobile Mark, maybe spruce up the interior, make it smell sweet and then pick up wife and daughter when they get back. You never know she might start to enjoy it especially if daughter’s on your side already 😉
October 16, 2014 at 9:52 pm #5248Well Ladies & Gentlemen
Thank you for your support. The other half (SWMBO) seems to have very reluctantly accepted my purchase of the Dormi after all. Not said so in so many words. But after 6 weeks of the neighbours rallying round & convincing her “he needs a hobby. He does not go golfing for a day at a time. Does not drink in the pub (only at home) etc” she has “tolerated” the behemoth that sits on the drive. Beautiful behemoth I must say.
It is like Christmas for me (quietly)
So that is a result! So thank you Gary; JerryD; Alex & Robin for your support.
If anyone knows how to get EP90 off concrete I’s appreciate it 😉 {brake cleaner seems to be the answer LOL}
I am just looking for the funds the support a bulkhead replacement & then off we go 😉 My Daughter will (I hope) love it.
Kindest regards
MarkOctober 18, 2014 at 11:35 am #5249Hi Mark,
I was only thinking about you and the dormobile just the other day, I’m pleased to read your post above and that hopefully things will work out for you 🙂 I’m sure with your daughter on your side things will get even better .
Failing that you could always bring your family out to oz for a holiday, there’s plenty of free lodging space here and you can even borrow the dormobile for that camping adventure 😉October 21, 2014 at 12:33 pm #5250Thanks Jerry. I might take you up on that 😉
Surprise the wife to be given the keys to an Oz based Dormi & told “Now you drive it back”. I would love to see her face.
Joking aside, the wife has made things more difficult than they need to be. I hope she will mellow with age…
All my best Jerry. I a pretty active on the Series 2 Forum as “Marque” if you fancy chipping in. Still check in here though. Saw ome images of you & your Dorm recently btw. Very nice motor.
Here’s keeping my fingers crossed….
