Hello
May I introduce myself? My name is Mark Barnes. I am looking for a Land Rover Dormobile. I have had the priviledge to visit AlexB & the green Dormobile but it was predictably snapped up before I could offer (cab rank rule being applied). That said, may I thank Alex for his time & wish the new owner all the very best of times with the vehicle.
Hence I am still looking for a Land Rover Dormobile. May I therefore request if anyone is considering a sale, or knows the whereabouts of a loved / unloved vehicle that they contact me. I would really appreciate the assistance. I am actively scanning autoscout / ebay / LRCC & this forum. However word of mouth is often much more effective. To that end I have reached out to a number of forum members already to trace / attempt to trace vehicles. So far, everyone has been very helpful which is very pleasant indeed.
May I thank the forum members for past posts, as I have learnt a significant degree from them. I especially favour the trip reports. So when the happy day comes, I hope to be a bona fide member (with wheels!).
Kindest regards
Mark

There is one here in Belgium http://m.autoscout24.be/details?vehicleId=245456288&id=245456288&asrc=st&from=fr.autoscout24.beI don’t know the seller…
Regards
LoïcAugust 5, 2014 at 7:29 pm #5223Thank you Loic. Very much appreciated.
I wondered how I missed it? It is registered on Auto Scout as a Defender, not Series. I will see if there is a wildcard search on Auto Scout again.
I have emailed the seller. If all the Dormatic seats are there then it is of interest. Looking at the images though, I see a high backed drivers seat. That said I hope the original is still available. Who would of though that we cannot successfully reproduce the seats.
As an aside I have emailed all my UK contacts to start looking as well. I appreciate the heads up, so very much.
Thank you Loic very much indeed.
Kindest regards
Mark

Thank you Loic.

MarkAugust 6, 2014 at 6:33 pm #5225There is some part here : http://www.2ememain.be/autos/land-rover/autres-mod%C3%A8les/lots-3-vieilles-land-rover-192657127.html may be it’s enough to build one…

One again may I say thank you for the pointer. I have emailed the seller. Will update with a response. In amongst the parts there may be the Dormatic seats. Looking closely at the images now to see if there is a frame.
Many thanks & kindest regards

Looking at the first image of the Dormobile in the barn, do you think on the Left Hand Side near the rear of the vehicle, the white frames are Dormatic Seat frames? If so, I can only see 2. No response from the seller yet.
Maybe I am imagining it.
Kindest regards
MarkAugust 7, 2014 at 8:40 am #5229Could be, it’s very hard to say.
Maybe the seller don’t speak English. Do you want me to try to contact him?
August 7, 2014 at 10:46 am #5230Loic, Thank you for the offer. I wrote in French so I will give it a few days & see if a response is forthcoming.
August 7, 2014 at 11:34 am #5231Hi Mark,
Good luck in your quest to find a Dormobile, here is a link to a project .http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C498262
Where are you based ?? There is a project dormobile in Tasmania for sale and there is also a good project one possibly for sale in Perth. Both are priced around the $4k mark but shipping might be rather expensive.
I think this one belonged to Alex –

August 7, 2014 at 9:54 pm #5232Thanks Jerryd.
I have already emailed the Car & Classic advertiser, but there has been no response. I will chase him up by phone over the weekend.
Regarding Tasmania, that really is too far for me to go. Continental Europe, not a issue.Thank you for the suggestions. Very helpful indeed.
Kindest regards

In answer to your question (this time with my reading glasses on) I am in Bedford, Bedfordshire UK. Hence the geographic scope of my search being continental Europe.
Thank you for the suggestions. Much appreciated.
Kindest regards

re http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C498262
The vehicle was sold last week and did not have Dormatics Seats. The search for a series Dormobile with Dormatics seats (operational or project) continues….
August 8, 2014 at 12:44 pm #5235I’m not sure if this one ever sold or not, although a bit expensive 😯
It might be worth joining the Land Rover Classic Campers forum as a few get listed on there from time to time
http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/index.php
It can get very frustrating trying to find the right vehicle or waiting for one to turn up, it took me six years to find mine and then a few months to persuade the owner to sell it to me. But well worth the wait 🙂 I’m in Australia by the way, so dormobiles are like hen’s teeth over here.
