Hi everyone Ive recently aquired a 61 romany and it hadnt run since 74
I cant believe my luck as this is completely original one owner 36k miles
It was seized and the valves were seized but I ground and reseated the valves and tap tap with wooden block under hammer around pistons (after filling with coke for a week) and it freed up and turned over-and the red oil light went out !!
Put the head back on last week- side gallery-manifold-s/s exhaust system that came with it -simple look in carb and fit-fuel in tank-battery wrong way round(stupid boy) and it fired up and ticked over 😀
then I switched it straight off and fitted water pump, rad and new hoses (still in the boxes that came with the vehicle said I was lucky)
Unfortunately found a leak from water pump pulley but suprise suprise -there was a waterpump in the back, loose
I wonder if the owner had the leak and got a pump for it in 74 but never did the job -I really hope so cos Im going to fit this one and hope

What a great find and it looks to be in good condition from the pic, I have many happy childhood memories of holidays in my father’s various Bedford Dormobiles 😀
