G’day,
I’m thinking about installing à fridge in my siia dormobile. I rember to see on this forum an installation based on a Waeco (I think it was on bea) but when I look on the datasheet (with = 260 mm) and on the dormobile (avilable space between the cooker unit and the seat = 200 mm) it shuld not work.
So if someone could explain me his installation (with à waeco or other), I’ll be greatfull.many thank’s
Loïc
August 25, 2012 at 7:38 am #4903Hi Loic,
When I purchased my dormobile it had no wardrobe fitted, instead it had the fridge stand and the remains of a fridge 🙄 I thought long and hard whether to leave the fridge stand fitted and fit new fridge, or remove it and fit a wardrobe instead.
The cost of a wardrobe shipped to Australia was too much money, so I made a wardrobe to suit. It’s built slightly wider and deeper than the standard size, this is so a Waeco fridge will fit inside the wardrobe 😀This leaves plenty of space in the galley and when at camp on a hot summer night , the fridge can be kept outside in the tent or under the vehicle. I’m about to change the design again and install a water tank into it along with the water pump. I also want to upgrade to the new Waeco “Dual Zone” fridge. It has a cooler / fridge / freezer that can be operated all at the same time. Very useful in our part of the world 8)
Here’s a few pics of work in progress, I didn’t take any of the finished article.
August 26, 2012 at 4:09 pm #4904Hi, Jerry,
thank’s for your answer, my wardrobe is still in good condition it’s so I was thinking about puting the fridge between the seat and the wardrobe or between the seat and the cooker.By the way, I had the oportunity to travel in your country five years ago. I drive 14 000 km along the east cost and the center. It’s a marvelous contry and your are verry Lucky to have à dormobile in such à heaven.
see you

😕September 6, 2012 at 12:35 pm #4906We use a coolbox / fridge (inexpensive and old and ready for an upgrade). Usd a a sat when cooking – sat under wardrobe on one of our vehicles needs replacing, and then used dismounted as a seat, table or windbreak. Seems that leaves more room for permanent fixtures within the vehicle. jj
September 16, 2012 at 6:55 pm #4907Hi Loic
Sorry for slow reply. House extension taken over my life.
Bea does have the Weaco fridge mounted between the cooker unit and the rear seat. Bea is fitted with the early seat frames and I’m not sure if this is why the fridge fits? I have exactly the same fridge, but My Dormobile has the later seats and it does not fit?
As there are only three of us, I have the fridge sat on the back rest of the O/S rear seat, bungied to the wardrobe when we are traveling. When we go to bed, I lift the fridge onto the cooker unit, but I am about to put a power socket on the N/S rear panel, so we can put the fridge in the rear awning.
My long term plan is to build a shorter cooker unit and place the fridge between the new cooker unit and the rear seat. If I remove the spacers either side of the cooker, the fridge should just about fit in my reckoning?
Hope this helps
Cheers Mick
September 17, 2012 at 9:30 am #4908Thank’s guy,
I finaly found a solution : If I move the wardrobe as close as possible t the back, there is enough space to put the fridge between it and the rear seat.

I think this is the easyest way to put a fridge.
See you

September 17, 2012 at 1:10 pm #4909You will find that the table might not fit on the rear door, with the unit pushed up tight to the window.
I found this out after I installed my unit 🙁 However, mine fits neatly into the wardrobe 🙄
