Hi all
Barney (1970 2a 109″ Station Wagon) came without curtains and I would be grateful for information on the original Dormobile curtains. Information on what colours and patterns were available. Information on how the curtains fit onto the Gliss track. I have the bits that slide, but there not like the ones in the house?
All info and pictures gratefully received.
Cheers Mick
April 3, 2009 at 1:08 pm #2167Dear Mick
A fuzzy close up of the curtain fixings in Genie, metal wire clips into the silent gliss hangers
And this is the a pattern. Pretty isn’t it, not! but functional. I think they are original. There were none in RU
Kind regards
Paul
PS I have put some gas bottle pics on your “other” posting.
April 3, 2009 at 10:38 pm #2168Hi Paul
Here are the gliders in Barney. As I said, there are no eyes to put hooks through. Supposedly, Silentgliss make a curtain tape that has loops in it that fit over the square blocks.

April 4, 2009 at 9:55 pm #2169Hi Paul and anyone else with a Land Rover Dormobile
I am going to get a friend to make the curtains for Barney within the next few weeks as I am hoping to get Barney to the LRO Spring Adventure at Driffield. Could you do my a big favour and measure all the curtains for me, please?
Thanks Mick
April 5, 2009 at 6:13 pm #2170Hi all,
I ll give michel.j a buzz as he’s had his complete set done and I bet he still has dimensions if not templates,
My curtains are I believe originals and are blue. They clip directly onto the squareish plastic bits, will post a picture later,
Kind regards
MarcApril 5, 2009 at 10:37 pm #2171Hi Marc
Cheers for the reply. Looking forward to the pictures. How do they “clip” on?
Cheers Mick
April 6, 2009 at 8:16 am #2172I have the same system as Jabbawocky in my Bedford and a piece of original curtain with the cotton strip with bridges to hang on the plastic glides. Some where still attached using tiny rubber bands (as an altenative you can use the tiny rubber bands sold for girls hair). For our new curtains we have bought a strip similar to those used with corsets or stuff like that. Far more expensive than usual curtain tape.
Have a look there, it might help you finding what you need.

and there
http://www.vwcurtains.com/silent.php (I find their tape too big and whatever they are writing, to my opinion, the tape they sell is better to be used with the hook system as we have put a similar tape as a temporary fixture and the curtains tend to fall)April 6, 2009 at 6:38 pm #2173Hi Phil
any chance of a photo of the original tape? I have spoken to silentGliss and they say the their tape is the correct tape for use with the hookless gliders. The picture on the VWcurtains site is too small to see if that is the Gliss tape. Does it have the loops on the top of the tape?
Its all very confusing???

April 6, 2009 at 6:57 pm #2174I’ll post some pictures later this week. 😉
April 6, 2009 at 7:43 pm #2175Original curtain (a mix of blue/green darker than in the photo with white chevrons )
Original tape
Alternative tape we have found
I’ll post the large tape alternative later this week…
April 6, 2009 at 8:00 pm #2176For the colour
April 7, 2009 at 12:33 pm #2177The way the tape is hung with the rubber band
A large usual tape hung with the rubber band
What happens if the threads in the large tape are free to move (hence my comment on the tape sold by the VW specialist)
Hope it helps…
