I have a very original 1958 split screen with the two front facing rows of bench seats in the front and the two side mounted benches in the rear. I want to use it for festivals which means installing a bed and a cooker (Glastonbury won’t let you in the camper section otherwise). It will be a shame to change the interior because it’s the lovely red Martin Walter original. Does anyone know of a conversion specialist who could do a job in keeping with the 50s era. I’m thinking of keeping the front bench and then putting a small kitchen unit down one side folding seat/bed down the other.

Alternatively, does anyone have four spare Dormobile seats that fold down and/or original camper interior, please?

Keep an eye on ebay as Dormobile interiors come up for sale, mainly from VW’s but you might be able to adapt some of the items to fit?

Thanks John. Yeah, I’m all over eBay but nothing yet. Must be the slow season…

      Hi Tim

I have two spare rear seats from a land Rover Dormobile that could be mounted behind each other to make a single bed???? or have you thought of using Rock & Roll hinges to turn your bench seat into a bed???

Just the ones I found with a quick google search.

What a great idea. I hadn’t thought of using rock and roll hinges on the existing benches – i’d always thought of the whole bed as a unit. I’m going to get a pair and see how versatile they are.
Thanks for the advice (and thanks also for the offer of the dormy seats – i’ll see if i can get away with adapting the originals first.

      Cheers
