We have a super 1990 Dormobile bodied Transit Welfare Bus converted to a camper. We are thinking of keeping it at our second home in France but need a Certificate of Conformity to register it. Has anybody any experience of this. Its a pity Dormobile has gone, because some manufacturers issue them.
If anybody wants a good camper the diesel Transit welfare bus is a good basis for conversion. Ours does 30mpg on diesel at 50mph lots of room and you can stand up in it. Its done 170,000 and we have done 60,000 miles of that. It even has a balcony at the back if you extend the wheelchair lift!
There is one in a yard about 200 yards south of Bedford (east side of line) station in a yard if anybody wants one, and there is a fleet of them used as buses in Sowerby Bridge West Yorkshire.
Any advice re Certificate of Conformity gratefully recieved.
Bonne route!
