Hi, wondered if anybody could give me some advice with regard to a sloppy gear lever on my 3 speed CA Dormobile?

Its a sod to find gear and when I let it go it drops down to the left like a lead baloon!

    Thanks

Its no good, have done as much as I can to fix the connecting rods, has any one got any ideas?

Has anyone got a gearbox they might want to sell?

    Thanks

Oh, well ive just taken up all the floors at the front and noticed a crack in the gearbox casing just aft of the bellhousing, which might explain the leaks, the excessive noise and the voilent shaking when using 1st and reverse.

Yesterday i went to pick up a 4 speed VX4/90 gearbox, its exactly the same as the later model Mk2 CA, but do I have the confidence to fit it and expect it to work…..no. The travel of the input shaft in and out looks inadequate on the 3 speed as it stands when compared to the movement of the 4 speed on the bench as it is currently fitted with floor mounted shift. When shifting into reverse it requires a hefty shift to the side, and the current configuration and the travel of the 3 speed column changer restricts it I think, but the books seem to suggest that all the parts are the same except the column changer having a pull out operation to place it into reverse, whereas mine seems to have a mixture of 3 speed and 4 speed parts, doh!! 😥
