bedford ca engine upgrade

hi there i just restored a 1964 bedford ca dormobile (crossover model) but the original engine requires rebuilding (piston bearing etc) before i go down this route i am thinking of upgrading to a more modern engine ie ford pinto engine and gearbox from contina or sierra models( or maybe another type of engine and gearbox upgrade may be better ) what i would like to know if anyone has carried out one of these conversions are they easy to do or straight forward i am quite good mechanic, things i like to know is any modifications to the propshaft engine mounts and anything else which i may find usful thanks mark21
