      hi there this my first listing on the forum about a year i go i brought a 1964 (crossover model) Bedford ca dormobile so far i have revanished the wood verneer interior and recovered the seats etc stripped the chassis and repainted and rebuild engine, 90% of the body work done and stripped to a bare metal (in etch primer) just require so information about up grading the gearbox at the moment i have THREE SPEED gearbox column change type i have just been given a vauxhall fb 4 speed floor change (with linkaged) can this be converted for column change for the ca ( if not the later ca had floor mount gear lever have any one got a spare floor mount gear lever plus any other parts required to do the job ) the other question is i have a brand new zenith 36iv carburter with k&n pancake filter will this work fine with the 1600 engine (the original zenith 34iv is worn out) any information or help would be very help full thanks mark21

        The ca’s never had a floor mount gearlever, however I have seen some conversions that basically stick the gearlever through a hole in the floor. Nothing is available off the shelf, you have to make and mend.
        The top drive is exactly the same in the 3 or 4 speed boxes anyway, unless you are driving round fully laden up 1 in 3 hills, I find the 3 speed fine
        I think the Zenith 36iv will work, as long as the jets are correct – Just see how it runs, Ca’s are not exactly high technology.
        Better conversion is to go for a weber – see earlier posts in this forum
