Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me source new or replacement rubber window seals for the sliding side doors (not the aluminium framed ones) and the rubber sealing strip on the front wings, where the wings meet the bulkhead panel. Really need other ones to help finish off van.
Spent a lot of time recently trying to finish it off – I’ll need to post up some pics soonAlso, has anyone had any luck getting formica sheet like the orginal white/grey grain effect? I know its obsolete but anyone get anything close?
Thanks in advance
DuncanJuly 30, 2010 at 10:02 pm #3252Hi Duncan,
try Key restoration services (KRS) on 0775 385 6092 for your rubber bits, If you get desperate then I do have some rubber wing moulding in the garage. you will only be able to get this stuff in black (unless you are very lucky).
Please let me know if you do source some matching formica.
good luck with the van, our Bitsey is in for her MOT on monday, so fingers crossed.

you can send for a catalogue for the rubbers from woolies email info@woolies-trim.co.uk or tel 01778 347347 . think you will have to put the aluminium windows
in the van as the rubber ones or like hens teeth
good luck dave glanfieldAugust 3, 2010 at 8:59 am #3255Hi there,
Bitsey passed her MOT with only one advisery, Wahey, cornwall here we come! so my apologies to anyone stuck behind me on the A30 this friday! Just got all the curtains to make, fix the back door lock (not that it would make it that more secure), adjust the throttle linkage, test the gas, actual make the bed up and test that, (no smutty remarks please, were british, its the CA Deauville, with the dormatic seats in the front and coachbuilt seats at the rear).
Oh the advisery, it was the rear axle oil seals are leaking, not going to stop me from cornwall, I’ll be just taking a bottle of oil with me and that lovely job can wait till I get home.
fingers crossed everybody, its a 400 mile trip from here!

August 3, 2010 at 10:15 am #3256Hi,
I had a look at the woolies catalogue but did not see the right profile. Its the rubber sealing strip that goes on the wing sealing it against the bulkhead panel below the windscreen. Ive read forum threads of other looking for it – just wondered if they found somewhere to get it.
I kinda thought I would need to change the rubber side window to the aluminium frames but was hoping to keep it orginal, fingers crossed I can get something. I would need to try and source a pair of aluminium frames to change them over.Thats exellent news about your van passing its MOT. A 400 mile trip should put it to the test!
Hope you have a good time and the van goes well.Duncan

Hi Stuart
My Deauville bed is incredibly uncomfortable. You can feel every bit of wood in the rear seat cushions. We use a double, self-inflating mattress on top which transforms it into a pretty comfortable night.
August 5, 2010 at 11:29 am #3258Hi Carl,
We haven’t spoken for a while, thanks for the tip on the bed, its all been reupholstered and we got the guy to stick a little more foam into the seats but It wouldn’t surprise me if there is a trip out to argos on the saturday morning! looking forward to the trip but the missus is going to be coming down in our car later that day. she is going to give me a 5 hour head start! I’m thankful of the 4 speed box but still running the engine in, so top speed is really going to be 50Mph, hopefully I will get 60 out of her on the return journey, just got to pack my tools, spares, oils, water, etc.
Oh 10 hours without a radio! still getting use to the sounds, squeeks, knocks! so might have an Ipod with me if I get really bored.

can we see some photos of the van .
dave glanfieldAugust 15, 2010 at 9:19 am #3260Hi Dave/Carl,
well bitsey made it down to cornwall without any hesitation, I had a slight conversation with the starter at the motorway services but I soon won that argument with my trusty multipurpose tool (hammer), just over 400miles, 10 hours journey time but couple of hours lost in traffic jams. Engine didn’t skip a beat, oil pressure constant and the temperature gauge didn’t rise, quite uneventful. Only concern was being overtaken by the big lorries and getting sucked into the middle lane but you soon got used to that! I have left her down in cornwall for a couple of weeks as we our back down for the bank holiday anyway and then the steady journey home again.
I will take some pictures when we are down at the bank holiday, forgot our camera on her maiden voyage!!!
just won some bunk beds for her on Ebay, £5, result that will add some useful storage space and some more charactor as its the wonderful blue tartan!
