      Hi,

the Bal was well-organized and fun for everyone, especially those who can stay up late!

I was glad to see my first completely original Dormobiles!

      Find the differences!

Yes, a real feast for the eye to see all those Dormobiles lined-up. Many thanks to the owners for taking the trouble to attend.

Hi, verry nice trip, you did’nt take part to the road book?

Just an other small question : How did you fit/buy these mirros?

Loic – have a look here:

              http://www.paddockspares.com/mirrorkit2-90-110-mirror-conversion-kit-for-s2-2a.html

This is a very sensible conversion as it bolts onto the existing door-hinge fitting, and is completely reversible. Unlike the original ‘lollypop’ type on the wings, the mirrors are very useful! (Also exists for Series 3)

Hello , these mirror are Defender models , I fitted it on the car (a serie II) to be quite during long trip , and I appreciated it in Istambul where the traffic is very important . I can explain how to do it only in French:

                  Hi ant,

do you have à picture of the paddock’s kit? I think it is with s3 door hinge?

                  Salut Michel,

Loic – as Series 3 have the same hinges as Defenders, the kit comes with new hinges with the holes ready to take the mirror. Here is the link for the series 3 kit – but alas – no photo! http://www.paddockspares.com/mirrorkit3-90-110-mirror-conversion-kit-for-s3.html

Salut Michel.

I did want to do the roadbook, but I was confused what our group would be doing (language barrier!). We had a nice exclusive tour for the Dormobile clique.

But I think the entire roadbook would have been too long and boring for the kids and my wife. I grew up in the U.S.A. doing roadbooks in a topless 1948 Jeep in all weather, just an Army blanket and a dog to keep us warm. But my own family is different. 🙄

In future Land Rover meets I will leave the family at home, or at least the wife! 👿

Still, we did some “green lanes” and I got one battle scratch. Then the day after I drove 600km from the Bal, I used the Dormobile to load 3000 kg of gravel for our garden with a rented trailer. I drove right under a gigantic front loader in the gravel pit. One slip of a lever and he could have crushed the Land Rover!

And this past week we were underway in the steep Jura with the caravan … with only a Swiss Army knife as a tool set because I forgot my toolbox. No mishaps!

What a vehicle! Recreational offroading, highway driving, and pulling loads.

I have probably cursed enough at it that it now behaves itself.

Hopefully next time my French will be good enough to talk more with you, Michel and Michel!

                          -Jeremy

                            D’avance merci
