Currently powered by a 200 tdi with series 2a gearbox with overdrive and on 3.54 diffs,( 6 pot engine and gearbox available by separate negotiation if needed for export) it comes complete with rear swingaway spare wheel carrier (opens with the door), side sun shade, reproduction wardrobe, kitchen (non Dormobile but a genuine Dormobile kitchen possibly available by separate negotiation). Since being refurbished for use – it was taken off the road in 1996 for rebuild and was back on the road in June 2010 – it has had more love and care, including new roof window seals, all seats re-upholstered, oil pressure gauge fitted and the wheel arch altered under the wardrobe to accommodate storage of a porta-potti.
Prior to 2009, the (body off) rebuild included repair and repaint of chassis and bulkhead, new brakes, new autosparks wiring loom, 5 new doors, all new window runners and a sympathetic paint job (not full respray) and new side frames.
The “canvas” is original and has a few pinholes at the top at each end, but does not let in any water . The roof vent has been replaced also. Before the engine was installed, in 2010, it received new piston rings and bearings. It manages between 30 and 34 miles per gallon (as per satnav calculations) dependant on speed and if it has a roof rack fitted. It is happy cruising at 65 mph on motorways.
Both front door hinges are “military” type with mirrors fitted.
My wife and I have visited most European countries in this vehicle over the last 4 years, without any major mishaps or breakdowns.
On the less good side, this vehicle is 44 years old and some of the newness has worn off. Despite some soundproofing, it is a bit noisy especially at speed. The galvanised cappings have been painted, a long time ago. It is missing it’s table and there are, of course, signs of wear and tear both inside and out.
What you are buying is a rare (1000 built approximately)vehicle that has been recently rebuilt and has had it’s reliability proven over the last few years, which has been sympathetically upgraded (improved?) in terms of power train to make it a comfortable home for 2 (or maybe more) either for a weekend or a fortnight (not tried any longer!). 30+ mpg, no road tax and £100 per year insurance.
We have three Dormobiles; this one, a blue one which I have rebuilt and will be our holiday vehicle from now on, and another project to restore in my spare time when I have the funds to do so – hence the reason for letting this one go.
We would have no hesitation in setting off tomorrow, after checking it’s bodily fluids, for Scandinavia, or Morrocco, for example. Offers in the region of £7500

        that is some wagon!
I’d love to take it but have no space, time, or skills to do it justice.
Hope that you are lucky in finidng a caring new owner who can keep this work of art alive!

Rather remiss of me, for which I apologise, this vehicle has been sold and is now enjoying being used, in Scotland
