Here is my personal experience :
On the dormobile I fitted heavy duty 1 ton type springs : these are very stiff.
On my 109 3 door, I fitted regular parabolic springs from RM : these are great for all terrain, sweet as a nut, does take its load no problem, handling is great and cornering is absolutely fine.
So, I may fit regular parabolics on the dormobile at some point since I am not planning to experience the mojave trail nor mongolia and it will never be that loaded : 3 leaves more than ample in my view.
