Hi,
I am looking for a windscreen rubber for a 1968 Bedford CA Romany. If anyone has a spare, or one that is part of a CA that is being taken apart for parts I would be very interested.
Also I would be very interested if anyone knows of any suppliers that would do the windscreen rubber, as currently my windscreen leaks and I’d quite like to be dry inside my CA!
Thanks.
MartinOctober 20, 2008 at 11:25 am #1767Where does it leaks? Corners, Middle? Everywhere just as mine 😆 ?
You can maybe try to insert some silicon sealing as a temporary action.October 20, 2008 at 11:45 am #1768It leaks mainly round the top corners at the driver and passenger side, although having said that I think it also leaks a little in the middle. I did consider using some silicon sealing, and I may well do if I don’t come across a rubber!
January 26, 2009 at 7:47 pm #1769For those who still might need one I ordered a windscreen rubber from here:
http://www.classiccar-trim.com/
…in the end, cheapest and quickest place I found.
I can let you know what profile it is if you can’t find it. Make sure you know how thick your glass is first before ording though as I believe 3mm is standard where as mine was 6mm.
Hope this helps someone.
MartinMarch 22, 2009 at 10:30 pm #1770Hi Martin, I’m just about ready to remove my windscreen. How long did it take for your new windscreen rubber to arrive, from when you ordred it?
March 23, 2009 at 9:24 am #1771Hi Gaz,
Once I phoned up and ordered the rubber I seem to remember it coming through pretty quick, ( I can’t remember exactly how long I’m afraid) however I would recommend waiting to take out your windscreen until you have the rubber incase there are any postal delays or something that can’t be planned happens. Also ask them if they have it currently in stock when you order it as I know some other rubber parts I have waited a bit longer for as they wait for a shipment to come in.Hope that helps and good luck replacing it!

MartinThanks for you quick reply Martin, is there something else your not telling me…… 😆 😆
Did you have trouble with yours? 😯March 23, 2009 at 9:39 pm #1773Haha, no, I didn’t mean it to sound like that, in fact I had more trouble actually getting hold of the rubber than I did fitting the window (different supplier, different story!), but I did have the help from an ex-auto glass employee when fitting it, which I must say made it a lot easier!!
I had to repair a fair amount of the sill due to corrosion on mine, so when I put it all back together there were a few gaps, however mastic/sealer under the rubber has stopped any water coming through. I’m sure yours will be fine!

March 24, 2009 at 12:51 pm #1774Hi
I had mine from Adrian Bailey ,I think about £60 ? inc chrome strip. I think Classic Vaxhaull spares do them and they are not VAT registered so may be cheaper.
The seal went in ok but still wasn’t water tight .Go to your local windscreen place and buy the propper sealant for about £5 its like a black mastic that doesn’t set and is easy to clean off with white spirit .
Good luck JimMarch 24, 2009 at 2:06 pm #1775Just a quick word….I have used Adrain for many parts in the past however when I ordered the rubber from him, he sent me two incorrect profiles, even after specifying the correct profile to him twice, with images.
He then asked me to order it directly from his supplier myself (so I then wondered why I had paid him the money)….and the supplier turned out to be the Kent Trim Supplies. I had previously phoned them to see if they had correct rubbers in whilst I was waiting (over a month) for Adrain to send me mine. The Kent Trim supplies worked out at about £45 including trim and postage, and Adrian was charging me £60+ for exactly the same thing from the same company, just via him.
It was all sorted out in the end and I did get my rubber from Kent Trim Supplies, it was just unfortunate that there was such a mix up. I’m guessing Adrian has it sorted now but best to ask him first. Just a suggestion.
I would not hesitate to use Adrian for parts in the future, he has been a great help in the past and I don’t think my van would be on the road without his parts!

March 24, 2009 at 8:30 pm #1776East Kent Trim supplies are listed at the back of the Domobile Digest as supplying window rubbers and have proved to be a good supplier for this type of part.
