Right then, We have booked the MOT for Molly for the 13th of July. Obviously I need to get the old girl insured, does anyone have any recommendations of company that are good/ cheap. The only problem I can see is that I am 25 and my girlfriend is 24, sometimes this excludes you from a lot of classic policies. Any suggestions welcome (ie. buy a 2003 Fiesta instead!).
June 26, 2011 at 9:41 pm #4152Footman James, £118, comprehensive, unlimited mileage, breakdown cover and driving other cars cover – I am 40 tho with a clean licence.
June 27, 2011 at 4:04 pm #4153You might want to look at the previous posts on insurance (general chat?) regarding my experience in trying to get a quote from FJ.
Perhaps I’ve been unlucky (both times) but they don’tseen to have heard of the Dormobile Owners Club let alone a special deal and have some really funny ideas about Dormobiles. That said, once you get through the ignorance barrier, I believe, renewal is easy!!
June 27, 2011 at 9:00 pm #4154Cheers chaps, I’ll check them out.

July 6, 2011 at 7:32 pm #4156It was looking bleak for a while then, no body would even quote us let alone insure us but eventually we gave Carol Nash a call. Fully comp for my girlfriend and I plus business use plus occasional wedding hire, all for £357. Brilliant. MOT on Wednesday.
July 23, 2011 at 10:24 am #4157£357? Ouch! I stopped getting notification emails again so this is a bit of a case of “after the horse is bolted” but did you see my post in this thread?
Mine is with R H Specialist (underwritten by Equity) – fully comp with European breakdown cover all for £60.50. I’m 28 now (was 27 when I took the policy out) and I’ve my 80yr old father on it too (I think it was the same price). I do live on the Isle of Man though and I opted for mileage limited social driving only.
July 24, 2011 at 8:51 pm #4158Agreed value with Limited mileage is the way to go, 1500 miles per annum is the lowest and makes a big difference to price.

July 25, 2011 at 6:54 am #4159After ringing back the insurer that quoted us £357 they told us it had changed and the new premium was in infact £162. That is fully comp with breakdown, 2,000 of wedding hire and two named drivers one 24 and one 25. It was Carol Nash by the way.

I’ll be trying Peter James next year Russell. My van is through Footman James and is £148. I’m 47 with a clean licence.
Thanks. 😀 -
