    Hi
I am about to replace the original 1500cc 41hp motor with a 1600cc VX 490 84hp motor from a 1966 FC victor VX
I am not sure wether to use the original 3 speed column or the 4 speed floor change gearbox
apart from the transplant and guages I want to keep it original
I have overhauled brakes, new shocks, underbody rubbers etc
Has anybody experience of this conversion?
Any tips would be great !

    Cheers

    Hi
I would go with the 4 speed box
got on in our pick up
i would guess that the linkegs will be the same so that should be easy
as you shore about the horse power ?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vauxhall_Victor
    thay recon at 66 bhp
if were me i would look at the 1.9 or 2 ltr
vauxhall opal cam in head motor about 100 hp
calaver mk 1 or opal manta / accona
then you could also go 5 speed box

Vauxhall code for their cars denotes the VX4/90 as 4 cyl 90 HP but the Hanes manual has the engine at 85.5 HP.
Tell your mate Wiki he doesn’t know much
