    Hi
I purchased a bedford ca romany in 2006 and spent the next 18 months referbishing from ground up,(As seen in classic van Feb 2010) supprisingly the engine started and run fine with just a small amount of work, it took us around europe and around the lake district with no problems, but now i’m experiencing problems when the engine heats up i get missfiring and lack of power.
I’ve changed points condenser leads coil and cleaned the carb. I run on unleaded and only use additives when on long trips, could this be vales? Have you any ideas?
ps The van starts and runs first turn of the key. Thanks arryboy

There is a themostatic valve in the inlet manifold that is supposed to reduce warm up time. If it has stuck, the van will suck hot air and give bad running problems. Most Ca’s have had this removed and the holes welded up.

Or it could be what I had earlier this year. As the van warmed up, the resistance on the ballast resistor increased to a point where it lost all spark. When it was cold it ran perfectly.
