Original purchase price?

Having just purchase my LR Dormobile as a company car, I need to know the original purchase price (including accessories) in 1974 to ensure that I pay the right amount of tax.

I have found a very useful starting point on TeriAnn’s web site (http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/Dormobile/69PriceList.pdf) but am hoping for some slightly more up-to-date information to emerge.

I have an original brochure at home with some hand-written price figures on it from a dealer, but I don’t remember if it related to my 1969 SIIA or to an earlier model. I’ll look for you. But I don’t htink it’s different from TerriAnn’s/John’s information. Having a 1974 SIII you’ll have to add extra cost for all the fancy modern plastic, won’t you? 😉

Often old copies of Autocar are good for this sort of information. Did they ever do a review of the SIII Dormobile??

Hi Gary,

Well, the original brochure I have won’t help. It’s got a library stamp on it from 4 April 1961! The hand-written quote is:

“4-BERTH £1170-0-0
2-BERTH £1158-0-0″

No note as to whether that’s 6 or 4 cylinder. I assume that’s notation for “old money”, shillings and such. Maybe you can extrapolate the price for 1974 using these prices and the ones on TerriAnn’s site from 1969?

There is currently a 1972 brochure with price list for sale on ebay in the UK if anyone is interested. In case anyone is wondering, it’s too late for me. I used the 1969 price and indexed by inflation…
