New Season Problems

😀 Just tried to start the van after the winter and found a problem where the points were gummed up and wouldn’t give any spark. The van is a Bedford CA and is fitted with a Boyer electronic ignition. Normally works really well, but I think the low current and lack of any sparking at the points may make this more of a problem. I recently heard of another CA that stopped at the side of the road with this very same problem, so maybe not even a winter layover issue.

If you have the Boyer setup, worth checking if you hit problems. Remeber the Red LED on the front of the black box should flash when the engine is cranked, if not then the points are likely to be the problem.

Thanks for the advice, I think a lot of people are having problems after a winter layup, seized brakes, misfireing etc have been common reports following the first get together of the season.
