Good afternoon,
I’m new to this forum, I found it attempting to find parts for a CA Debonaire on google. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you about my new CA.
I heard of a cache of cars in a garden outside of Bristol through a friend of mine. My brother has always been into classic cars but I am more of a British bike man myself.
I heard there was a “couple of old vans” in the collection. I went along to find some Humbers, a Daimler, an early Scimitar with a supercharged BMW engine fitted, an old caviler and two Debonaires (’65 and ’67). All of them were complete and original but had become part of the foliage and wrapped in briars. A really incredible sight.
Anyway, I went along and got the 1965 CA turning over. No fuel getting to carb so pressume the tan/ fuel pipe is blocked with silt. Pump working fine. Solid spark.
I was pleased to find the bodywork was fibreglass. I chasis looks solid as well wich I found very surprising. The tires even still had air in them. I’ll go back with my compressor next week.
After an ask around I have come across a NOS Victor block inc crank, rods, pistons etc. It is still in it’s waxed/ greased paper, straight out the factory. There is also a box available. My question is; how do I identify the block as the correct model that was used in the late CAs and how can I tell if the box is a 3 or 4 speed.
Could anybody give me any information if I forwarded the engine number? I’m going to see the pair on Sunday, I don’t beleive the van needs them but they will prove to be useful (and very rare I understand?) spares.
As a new owner of these vechiles can anyone forward me an useful links, parts stockists or general advice on common faults, areas of corrosion etc?
Cheers,
Olly
