    Hi all,

I have a 1960 Bedford CA Romany (which is advertised for sale in this forum and on Ebay). It has been parked up in a shed for 36 years, and hasn’t moved in all that time 😳 . We used to go on family trips to the seaside in it, we three boys, mum and dad. I don’t remember much about this as I was small, but my older brothers claim to remember.

One family story is how we were going to the beach one day with a biscuit tin of home made jam-centred cakes on a shelf at the back. The van went round a corner, or over a bump and the biscuit tin fell to the floor and rolled into someone’s feet. Ever since our family have known these cakes as ‘Kick Buns’.

We bought it second hand in about 1970. It has a full Martin Walter conversion, with red and white pop up roof and upper bunks. There are sideways folding seats behind the driver and passenger seats. These fold down together with the driver’s and passenger’s seats to make two beds. There’s a wardrobe/cupboard unit on the offside, and a sink / hob / grill unit on the nearside. Under the floor I think are the water and gas tanks.

It still has all the interior fittings including cushions, curtains etc. and on the outside has all the badges on the bonnet and sides. It is a moment frozen time…

Any more questions, please fire away.

    Lordy Pie Man
p.s. I have a modern day van now, based on a Peugeot Boxer.
