Hello,
I bought a new roof tent from Dormobile in 2008 and now it’s time to put it on. My old one is developing cracks as fast as I fix them, and it’s shrunk such that I can only open it 3″ below the max extension, meaning the person sleeping near the windows has a very narrow bed.I have the tent attached to the roof cap, but I can’t get the stripes to be horizontal while the roof is fully opened; it’s too tight! I have to give it at least 3 stripes of slack at the edge opposite the hinges or else it won’t open fully. Thus, the stripes slant across the vehicle, instead of being parallel to the roof. If I give more slack at the hinged edge to match, there’s just a pile of floppy tent fabric there.
Any hints?
Maybe my bows are in wrong? Could anyone please post photos of the bows in front AND back to illustrate how they fit?
Thanks,

Mick has just fitted a new canopy – not Dormobile though, pm him or give him a ring (days are best)
Otherwise, see what Jim at Dormobile has to say? Can’t suggest anything else I am afraid.
On the 109, I left it up for 2 or 3 months to get it to stretch as it hadn’t been up for so long.

Not sure I can be of much help. As Alex says, my canvas is not from Dormobile. I fitted the canvas to the roof cap first and then refitted the cap to the roof. The stripes lined up straight away, but the canvas was clearly mark “this way up”. I am sorry to ask this, but you have fitted it the correct way up?
I did use tape to hold the hoops in the correct position whilst fitting the canvas.
Barney came home today, so I can take some pictures of my canvas and hoops if it will help?
Cheers Mick

August 11, 2010 at 7:56 am #3463Thanks, I think my bows (ribs) are installed the correct way.
I installed it right way up (it was labelled which way was “up” and it only fits one way). First to the roof cap, then to fit it to the Land Rover roof I let it hang with the roof at full extension. There seemed to be a lot of extra fabric, but not in the places I needed it.
I’ll inquire at Dormobile Ltd.

August 11, 2010 at 8:34 am #3464Hi Jeremy
I have taken some pics of my roof – but don’t think they’ll tell you anything you don’t already know.
BTW thanks for your letter – will reciprocate someday!
