February 25, 2010 at 11:25 pm #2974Sorry, not me.
March 2, 2010 at 7:54 pm #2975I haven’t got an HA Roma but I have got an Escort Elba, 1969 vintage, which i have owned since 1971,is that some sort of a record?I wonder how many Elba’s are still out there?Ihave met up with one other owner and we have done a couple of shows together, the vans always create a lot of interest.A major restoration to the front of the van has recently been completed, I need to save my pocket money now to have it re-painted and then it’s off to the shows!
March 3, 2010 at 8:22 pm #2976is that the on based on the mk1 escort van? my dad used to have an orange one with a white roof, if memory serves it was a 1500 automatic,
sadly in all the time he had it I dont think he ever even bothered so much as opening the roof on it..March 9, 2010 at 3:54 pm #2977Yes,The Elba is based on aMk1 Escort van.The conversion is almost identical to that fitted tothe HA van.Have you got a Roma?
March 10, 2010 at 9:49 pm #2978yeah, I have an incredibly rusty Roma (so bad its still borderline if its even savable)
but I shall have a damn good go at saving the wee beasty..
there is a thread on here somewhere.. or if not there is a long thread with photos here…http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=76065
brace yourselves though.. hes in a bad way..
March 12, 2010 at 7:58 pm #2979had a look at the pictures great! The one good thing is that you have got the original curtains!I will post some pics of the Elba and you will see how similar they are.i sourced nearly all of my replacement body bits from a firm in Kidderminster. The only parts i couldn’t get were the wings, which i eventually obtained from a contact in South Wales having heard about them on the “grape vine”There is a fortune to be made for someone who can produce metal mk 1 Escort wings.I will do the photo’s the weekend ,and send you the details of the panel company, with any luck they might be able to supply you with the bits you need, and if you can get the metal they can’t supply fabricated you could soon be on the road.Best of luck, there aren’t many of us left.

I have seen 2 Elba’s on ebay recently, one quite nice Red one, and another that needed a bit of work http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170456522631
March 15, 2010 at 6:20 pm #2981looking at that Elba on ebay it appears larger inside than the HA, the cooker is definitly larger very smart though !
March 19, 2010 at 9:02 pm #2982if you are looking for replacement panels try Autostores unit 24,Meadow Mills Industrial Estate,Dixon St,Kidderminster,Worc’s DY10 1HH.Tele 01562 747333.They also have branches in Malvern and Evesham. They supplied me with suspension plates, crossmember, floor pan,A posts, inner wing drip rails,in fact everything i needed except the front wings, but that’s another story. The prices were very reasonable, saved me a lot of money .If i had had to have the parts fabricated the restoration of the Elba would not have been viable.Best of luck with the Roma!
