Hi all,
We live in sunny Cornwall and have a Landrover 110 Dormobile
Hope that you don’t mind us being here, as we don’t have the original MW vehicle
We’ve got a TDCI (Puma) 110 defender XS (07 model) fitted out with Dormobile equipment… called Elgar..!
Namely the Dormobile seats that give 2 single beds, stainless cooker/sink unit, water tank, gas bottle, reading lights, copy of the MW wardrobe etc…
This is the 2nd vehicle that the equipment has been fitted in as we had a 110 TD5 before and transferred the kit to the newer one earlier this year.
We use the vehicle about twice a month for weekends away or when driving long distances overnight, and have plans to go touring around Morocco next year and possibly Iceland some time after that…
Hope to have some good banter with all here !

October 17, 2009 at 5:41 am #2611I’ll post some photos of us camping in the next few weeks – got a couple of weekends away planed in wales and south cornwall
Also going to Dormobile UK for a new seat cover next month as one of ours has had a stiching failure and is fraying…October 18, 2009 at 9:28 pm #2612Hi Wyvern
Welcome to the forum. Just been looking at your pictures.
Is that a Zanussi washer/dryer in the middle of your dash where your clocks should be ???
Only joking. It looks very nice, but very different from my 1970 Land Rover 2a 6 Pot Dormobile.
Do post some pictures, it’s always good to see where people have taken their Dormobiles. We are planning to take ours over the alps next year and then to Morocco in 2011.
Just go to get the 6 pot doing more than 15 mpg
Cheers Mick
October 19, 2009 at 5:45 am #2613Hi Mick
naa… its a hot point .. (teehee!)
I had a S2 4 cylinder 109 in the past which gave us 8mpg on a good day! this one gives us about 30mpg, which is quite good when you consider it’s got a full roofrack and all the gear in the back.
I’m thinking of addiing a long range tank giving me another 45ltrs, but thats for the future after we evalate how much it would be used.
The trip though the Aps sounds great as well – are there any known off road ‘green lane’ routes to take when going that way?October 24, 2009 at 9:13 pm #2614HI

I have been told so. They are tracks up to ski lodges. I do not know any definate routes at present, but know people who do. When it gets a bit closer to the trip, I will be chasing them up.
Do you think she will make it up the Alps?

May 9, 2010 at 7:36 pm #2615Hi All
as an update – we’re off to Italy next month for a drive from France up into Belgium, across Luxemboug then into Switzerland, dropping down into Italy for dinner in Venice (well it is our 25th anniversary.. so I said lets got out for dinner..!)
Or trip plan is to drive over the mountain passes rather than use teh tunnels, so we are hoping for some great views adn nice places to camp.
anyone have any routes that they would recomend? We recently took the waggon on an off-road course to see how to drive it on the serious rough stuff and it handled very well. All the fittings were robust and nothing came loose! Just took me a week to clean off all the mud! !
Our trip to Morocco is still on but has been delayed till next Easter as there are some other people we know who are going at the same time adn we’ll tag alone with them – which seems to make sense for safety and fun.hope you all have a great summer!
Happy camping.
