Hello from the USA

Hello, Iv’e had my ’59 VW Dormobile for about 12years. It has an almost complete Martin Walter addition. I am on the fence about selling it to someone who offered a decent amount of money for it. I am pretty attached to it and am wondering if anyone knows the value of it or where I could find out. It would be more than painful to me to find out it is worth more than I had thought. Thank you for any answers.

Are there many slittie Dormies still running around in the UK? I have seen some other VW Dormies around here, but all were bay window.

I’ve only seen one, owned by a lady in Oregon. There are also a few “faux” split-face Dormies, made by attaching Dormobile roofs onto split-window buses with a variety of camper interiors.

You might want to research prices and stuff on the Samba. I’d just see what a comparable vehicle with a Westfalia roof would be worth, and add a few hundred dollars for the Dormie top.

FWIW, I found out that my Dormobile top was put on as an aftermarket thing in the Netherlands, shortly after the original owner took delivery. I’d bet that there were plenty of others who did that.
