      Hello,
I’ll be refitting my patched up canopy soon and I was wondering if any of you used some kind of sealant between the sandwiching elements, on either the fiberglass or aluminum roof and the aluminum trapping strips? My canopy and roof halves have dark brown, brittle residues of a long-lost sealing substance on them. What might that have been, and what have you used on reassembly?
      Thanks!
      Jeremy

        HI

When I do this I will give Dormobile a call and ask them what they use on new roofs.

        Just a thought

          Hi Mick,
The other Dormobilers must be out on vacation or watching “football”, eh?

TeriAnn’s website has a pretty detailed section on the roof rebuild, but it doesn’t mention using any sealant.

I’ll drop a line to Tim and put the answer here and on my website when I get it updated.

i have an answer from Tim at Dormobile regarding sealing the roof canopy:
polyurethane around the outside of the aluminum strips on the roof cap and the metal roof, including the strip which is on the inside of the canopy (seal the side toward the hinges). also put a small amount of sealant on the threads of bolts going through the roof, and seal the undersides of washers, the aluminum plates, and the vent cover hinges.
