I met Ant this weekend and picked up the vent that Michel delivered to him at Bannegon last summer. It’s great! Thanks for having them made, Michel!!

November 30, 2011 at 10:50 pm #4558Ok Alex , I try in English : don’t make the hole for fitting with a new drill , take a stone and wear it on the end , then , I gave you a piece of material to try to pierce and not brake around , when you are ok , you can work on the vent cover without danger
Bonjour chez toi
MichelDecember 1, 2011 at 10:31 am #4559Yes, Tony said to use a dull drillbit, not a sharp one, and to practice first on the extra piece Michel provides.
I have the optional “fly screens” which require drilling 40 small holes around the edge, for an aluminum strip to hold the net! I didn’t have any surprises drilling the Dormobile vent, except that it’s a different dimension and the holes could not be located in the original positions. I noticed that it wouldn’t work after drilling just one hole, but I had to fill this and it’s not nice-looking. Always hand-fit the new part before making a hole! Michel’s vent cover seems identical to the original.
One thing I wonder: when I fit the vent cover from Dormobile, I also fit a new felt seal on the roof. This seal made it impossible to close the vent! At least, I was reluctant to pull hard enough on the vent to close it. I ended up putting spacers under the hinge, to lift that edge of the vent so that it could close over the very tall felt seal. Have I installed the seal correctly? The original one was installed the same way, but it bent out toward the outside of the opening. My new one stood up straight. It seems to be starting to do finally lie flat after 3 years. Should I try to push it down more (will it tear, etc)?

June 10, 2012 at 6:05 pm #4560I finally installed my vent cover today!
It fits perfectly and it looks so much better! It’s also much more rigid and quite a bit heavier than the other replacement I had.
