Does anyone happen to have an exhaust tail piece. My down pipe and silencer are in pretty good shape but the tail piece is buggered. I don’t really want to have to spend £200 on a new system if I can avoid it.
Out of interest, does anyone know why the exhaust has that elaborate exit piece? The only reason I can think of is that they didn’t want the exhaust to blow onto the pavement but I am sure I’ve seen modern vans that have a nearside exhaust exit.
When I first bought my van, the exhaust was exiting the near side, but when I looked under the van it had been welded up that way. Obviously cheaper than running an extra bit of pipe to the ther side as it should have been. All fixed now though, it’s a new exhaust exiting on the off side. 😀
Its perfectly legal to have it exit on the n/s. I’m just about to turn my end pipe around, as my van has it’s mot on Monday for the 1st time in 6 years !!
hi Russell
nice to see you on the forum good luck with the m o t on Monday or you going to scorton steam fair with the van i was speaking to John in the week he was telling me about someone from Ireland coming over with a van full of bedfor ca parts
speek to you soon dave glanfield
I have booked in for Scorton, wether I am able to drive it by then will be another matter (back on sick after another op on my am). If not, I will tow it on an A frame!!.
I’m expecting the van to fail, however the local garage can fix all the “heavy” mechanical stuff – I think it will need brakes freeing off and new spring hanger bushes -that I know about.
