If you’ve read my post in general chat you’ll know that I have taken possession of my new toy 😀 However, playing with the seats and trying to get them working correctly I need some helpful advice.
When I turn the double front seat so that it faces the rear, the seat squab is sitting on an angle 😕 I’m wondering if there should be a bar or something somewhere that the base should rest on ?? Also should there be a handle of some sort on the side of the seat squab ?? I have two holes in the frame that look like they should have something fitted to it ?? I did find it difficult to reverse the seat even though I’ve oiled all the joints. If anybody has pics of the front seat in it’s various positions I’d be most grateful 😉
March 9, 2011 at 4:58 pm #3910Hi-
Here’s a picture of the passenger seat in the reversed position:
You don’t say which way the seat base is sloped but there’s no bar under the seat base beyond the attachment brackets. Here’s a picture of the handle which attaches via screws and clip nuts to the seat frame:
good luck!
CarlMarch 9, 2011 at 9:32 pm #3911When the seat is in the position as your first picture, the back of the seat (which is now the seat squab) is sloping on an angle towards the floor. I thought there should be something it should locate onto to keep it in the correct position.
There has never been a handle fitted like yours, the holes I was referring to are on the side of the frame. I’ll keep fiddling with it and see if I can work it out .Thanks for the pics
March 10, 2011 at 3:45 am #3912Here’s the holes for the handle (circled in red). There are two sets of holes since the seat frame was used on LHD and RHD trucks.
Do your seats have the grab handle across the back? I can’t remember if the handle rests against the back of the seatbox when the seat is flipped.

March 10, 2011 at 11:26 pm #3913The later seats, trimmed in black vinyl, don’t have a handle. My seats are the later type and I think they do angle down a little. Will have a look tomorrow.
What I have always wondered is: What is the bit of round bar riveted to the side of the bottom frame do? have a look at the second picture above. it is on the back rest in that picture?
Cheers Mick
March 12, 2011 at 2:30 pm #3914The seats in my dormobile are the later type black vinyl, I’ve been fiddling around this evening (your morning 😆 ) and discovered a couple of extra long bolts that had been fitted underneath the frame.I noticed that when the seat was being flipped part of the frame was catching on these bolts and had to be forced into position.I’ve rectified this problem and now it works fine, even the seat is now sitting in the correct position.
I’ve also checked and tightened the bolts on all seats and lightly oiled the joints, cleaned out the locating holes in the floor and now they seem to be working a lot better.
I do find that when the double seat is flipped it does catch on the dashboard very slightly, also when the seats are in the bed position there is a 50mm gap on the passenger side between cushions, yet the drivers side seems 20mm too tight 😯I guess it is a Landrover though.
March 13, 2011 at 12:39 am #3915HI Jerry
You may have to adjust the drivers seat when you drop it, depending where you have it set when driving?
My seat butt up nicely, but I have adjusted the hight slightly. We use a double self inflating mattress on top of the bed to iron out the lumps and the bed is fantastic. We used the Dormobile seriously for the first time last summer and before we went, i had to promise the wife a night in a hotel. So, half way through the holiday, we had the night in the hotel and we both agreed the bed in the Dormobile was far comfier than the hotel bed. So, if we stop at a hotel again, we will use the shower etc. and then sleep in the Dormobile.
Cheers Mick
March 13, 2011 at 11:31 am #3916Hi Jerryd, I know exactly what your talking about I have replaced those two bolts in the past, they were too long and it stopped the frame from sitting correctly, as you have discovered shortening the bolts solves the problem.

March 13, 2011 at 4:27 pm #3917I’m glad it’s solved! I also use bolts for this joint and they have to be ground off a bit so it doesn’t rub.
Now, if I might hijack for a second …
Like Mick, I wonder what this bar (stub) is that is screwed to the outside of the frame, on the seat base when positioned for driving. As far as I can tell, it only serves to rip open the door trim! I have therefore removed mine.
Any clues?
