The hinge on the forward skylight of my Debonair was knackered and I got home the other day to notice that the wind had blown it off and it shattered on the drive. Does anyone have a spare they are willing to part with?
January 16, 2011 at 8:38 am #3752aah! rubbish! the same thing happend to me, but as i was driving along the motorway with my door open and a great big lorry wooshed passed me and blew it out. 🙁 that was a sad day
sorry, i dont have a solution to your problem but i am also in your position because it is just temporarily fixed with some heavy duty plastic and gaffer tape *shame*
but i was just about to start looking for one, so will let you know if i find anything of interest!
January 17, 2011 at 6:43 pm #3753I’ve been looking at getting one made up but as mine is in pieces I don’t even have a template to give to a plastics shop. I have a temporary fix of a tuppaware lunch box, it looks alright in my opinion!
January 17, 2011 at 7:17 pm #3754When I bought mine it had two weird domes instead of skylights, it’s ok but I’ve been thinking of replacing them and someone sent me a flier for a company who will make them but it would only be viable if needed to make a few. Looks like we might be on to something. I’ll dig it out and give them a call. I’ll let you know.

February 1, 2011 at 2:33 pm #3756Hi,
Sorry – I hadn’t forgotten I’m just a mess when it comes to filing! Been through all the paper I could find at least 3 times and all I’d found of interest was Cleopatra’s family tree – http://www.flickr.com/photos/75337124@N00/5370402159/. All I had to keep me going was the faint memory of holding the flyer in my hand and thinking ‘no, I mustn’t throw this away’.
Anyway spurred on by your post I had a brainwave this morning and found it tucked away with my registration and insurance documents – d’oh!
Right, so the company is EECO they are based in Halifax – the website is http://www.eeco-ltd.co.uk/. I got the flyer from Peter Dobbs (he sells parts – really nice guy as well) he said his skylights had blown off but I was never sure if he got them replaced by this company or not. The flyer he sent me has 24/11/03 and BRYAN written on the top of it.
I called them this lunchtime but I don’t know if it was their phone or mine but I got cut off about 4 times – then couldn’t get through at all.
I did speak enough to the guy to learn the following:
- a) they just produce the produce the plexiglass – not the frames or any mountings
b) it will be cheaper if they make a few
c) it might be a standard / customisable part – sounds like they have hundreds in stock (I was a bit confused by this statement…)
d) they’ll probably need one to copy
e) they can’t really give you any indication of prices etc without some photos or at the very least the dimensions of the apertureI got cut off before I could get the email address but on the website it says sales@eeco-ltd.co.uk
I don’t really think this is going to be any use to me as I don’t have the frames to sit the glass in – in fact I have way bigger issues with my roof / skylights http://www.flickr.com/photos/75337124@N00/4921596218/in/set-72157624667807925/ so I’m probably going to be out if you do go for a group purchase.
So that’s all the information I have – I thought I’d leave it to you to follow up as there is not a lot more I can do.
Good luck and let me know how you get on!
