Does anyone know who is the best company to go with on Classic insurance? I have a 1965 Bedford CA 1600 Van, converted into a camper. I phoned a few companies up today and they want me to get a gas safe certificate for the gas part of the conversion. There are only 2 joints on the gas !!!!!

Rant over, I need some insurance, I will be posting pics of her soon, once the roof is on, so watch out.

No idea about the ‘best’ but the cheapest I got was from http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/ it’s underwritten by Equity but I’ve no idea how good they are if it comes to claiming etc.

£60.50 for a year, fully comp, including breakdown and European cover. Mental.

They didn’t ask about gas. What gas bit have you got? Just the cooker? Or have you got a gas flume for a fridge? I got the impression it was important that it had a cooker and a bed installed in fact, guess it must be specific camper insurance.

Mine was originally a minibus which has been converted to a camper, to the “Any modifications?” question I explained I didn’t know what it was like internally in the first place and they were OK with that. They were only bothered if someone had stuck in a porsche engine or anything.

    Hope this helps.
